Internet Safety

Recently several parents of younger students with laptops have asked about extending the filtering system we have at school to cover home use.  For several technical reasons, it is not possible to do so. There are, however, several steps that concerned parents can take to monitor Internet use.

·         Have students access the Internet in an area where parents can view activity

·         Learn how to check Internet history and do so periodically

·         Talk with the student about what you consider to be acceptable and unacceptable activity on the Internet

·         Reinforce Internet safety skills which have been taught at school

·         Check with your Internet provider (ATT, Comcast) about parental control software available on their sites

·         Purchase a program like NetNanny or CyberPatrol to filter Internet Activity
