Instructions for Using Photo Story

1.        To download Photo Story on your home computer, go to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/photostory/default.mspx

2.      Click on the hyperlink or the arrow in the middle of the page:

3.      On the next page, click on the “Continue” tab:

4.      Once Microsoft has validated your computer, the same page will change and you will see a “Download” tab:

When you click on that tab, it will take you the process of downloading the program to your computer.

5.      Once downloaded, you can go to the Start button, click All Programs, Microsoft Photo Story 3.0.

6.      Click “begin new story” and Next

7.      Click on Import Pictures.  Select the pictures you want.  (They should be saved to your computer before you try to import them.)  If you want to change the order of the pictures, click the right and left arrows on the right hand side of the picture pane.

8.      Once you have imported all of your pictures, you can remove black borders if you like.  Simply click the “remove black borders” button and it will resize pictures.  If you do this, make sure you look at each picture before it is changed because when it crops the picture it may cut off the best part of the picture.  (In other words, do not simply click “yes to all” after you click “remove black borders.”)

9.      When you are done editing the pictures, click Next and you can add text to your pictures and you can effects to your pictures.  This is where you would add your title, your quotes, and your works cited information.

10.  When you are done adding the text you need, click Next and you can narrate the story and pick transitions for the pictures.  You don’t have to narrate your story.  The transitions are easy to add.

11.    Once you have added your transitions, click Next and select music to correspond with your slides.  You can import music, or you can have the photo story program create music for you.

12.   When you are finished adding music to your story, click Next.  You are then ready to save the project as a photo story.  Select “save for playback on your computer” and save it as your name to “My Videos.”  Click Next.  The program will then convert your project to a finished story.  Once it is saved to “My Videos”, copy it to the t: drive.

13.   Have fun!!
